The Renaissance “Divine Light” Style

I first saw that image in college while in an Art History course of some sort.  What got me then, and now, wasn’t the subject matter, wasn’t the children, wasn’t how the painting was nicely done, nope, none of that… 

…it was the darkness in it. 

I was a film major, darkness, for the most part, was a problem, on shoots we used enough light to almost give you a tan but here, darkness became the 5th character, was actually part of the deal and then… 

…within the darkness, was a face. 

To me that’s when it became ART. 

That’s when it transcended oils and brush, that’s when it challenged you… 

…TO LOOK… 

…STUDY… 

…EXPLORE. 

I never forgot it, never forgot what is called:  

Chiaroscuro

Chiaro (Light)                   Scuro (Dark)

Try to sell that to a boss. 

But after 4 decades of writing, news, picture taking now… 

…I’m the BOSS. 

And so that is what this website is about, Light & Dark, or as I call it: Shadow’s & Light. 

I took all the photos; I used a widely acceptable photo fixing program which is 95% of the photo…the photo is enhanced by A/I to add “Chiaroscuro” to the background of the photograph something my advanced editing program can’t get right. 

Nothing is fake unless of course you add all the popular photo editing programs that can add mountains, oceans, sky and frowns to smiles to any snapshot you take.

I don't keep stacks of prints waiting on a shelf. 

When you reserve a PRINTED photograph, your image begins its journey. 

It is produced from my Artist's Master Print, professionally printed, personally inspected, and, if requested, signed before it ever leaves my studio. 

That process takes a little longer.  I believe it's worth the wait.
